Please find the most frequently asked questions about the general terms of our car rental services below.
The deposit is a hold (pre-authorization) of an amount on your credit card. The deposit comprises a deductible for damages, increased by the amount for one additional day of rental, a full tank of fuel and any parking fines.
Pre-authorization is the holding of funds on the client’s credit card during the rental period. The pre-authorized amount is used in case the rental period is extended and if the client returns the vehicle with a lack of fuel or with a parking fine.
The deposit is automatically released within 30 days from the last day of the rental. The release of funds depends exclusively on the bank issuing the credit card and Avant Car has no influence on the duration of this process. Note that the client will not see a + on their credit card (as there was no -), and that the limit will be the same as before the pre-authorization.
A deductible for damages is the maximum amount of liability for the vehicle (even in the case when the damage caused to the vehicle is much higher than this amount), provided that customers adhere to the Avant Car General Terms and Conditions.

You can use any card (debit and credit) and cash for payment, but a credit card is required for the deposit – VISA, MasterCard and Diners.
The main driver is the person who signs the rental agreement and is solely responsible for the vehicle during the rental. Can a customer use someone else’s credit card? No. The credit card holder must be indicated in the contract as the main driver.
The Carefree Package is a product of Avant Car for carefree rental. It covers all types of damages as long as they are not caused by negligence or driving under the influence of alcohol/drugs. The damage waiver is EUR 0,00 (HRK 0,00), and the deposit is lowered to EUR 200,00 (HRK 1.506,90) or EUR 300,00 € (HRK 2.260,35), depending on the group of vehicles.
The Carefree Bundle includes SCDW + WUG + PAI + quick check out + island & ferry fee + 0 deductible for damages + reduced deposit + Call Assistance.
SCDW (Super Collision Damage Waiver) is coverage for car body damage without mechanical parts and theft (the coverage only applies to the vehicle, and not the passengers’ luggage).
WUG (Wheels, Undercarriage and Glass) is additional insurance coverage that buys out the excess for damages done to the wheels, underside and glass of a vehicle.
PAI (Personal Accident Insurance) covers medical expenses and costs in the event of the death of the renter and the passengers due to an accident that occurs during the rental of the vehicle.
When the vehicle is insured by an agency and if damage occurs to the vehicle (regardless of who is to blame for the damage), the amount of damage is collected directly from the client. Also, the deposit that is held on the client’s credit card can amount to between EUR 1.450,00 (HRK 10.925,03 kn) and EUR 4.950,00 (HRK 37.295,78) depending on the booked group of vehicles. The Carefree package covers all types of damages as long as they are not caused by negligence or by driving under the influence of alcohol/drugs. The damage waiver is EUR 0,00 (HRK 0,00), and the deposit is lowered to EUR 200,00 (HRK 1.506,90) or EUR 300,00 € (HRK 2.260,35), depending on the group of vehicles.
Cross border fee is a fee for driving a rented car outside the borders of the Republic of Croatia.
There are two types of Cross border fees:
- Cross border fee: EUR 75.00 per rental including VAT (25%) and unlimited travel. Travel to Kosovo and Albania is strictly prohibited and is subject to a fine of EUR 625.00
- Neum Transit Cross Border Fee: EUR 50.00 per rental including VAT (25%) and an unlimited number of trips through Neum.
The One Way Fee is a fee for picking up and returning vehicles at different locations (cities).
The key box is the possibility of returning the vehicle outside the working hours of one of our branch offices. The service is free of charge, and the client is responsible for the vehicle until it is inspected.
We have different groups of vehicles in our fleet and each group has different types of vehicles. For this reason, we cannot guarantee you a type of vehicle, but only a group of vehicles.
These are the services we provide to you during the rental, and their payment is possible only at the pick-up of the vehicle. Additional services are, for instance, the Cross Border Fee, additional fee, GPS, WiFi, child safety seat, etc.
